Doxofylline is a xanthine molecule having both bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory activity. It inhibits phosphodiesterase activity thus increasing the levels of cAMP and promoting smooth muscle relaxation .

It may interact with allopurinol, aliskitren and almotriptan.
This medication is an antitussive, prescribed for asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Hyperthyroidism, kidney or liver disease, hypoxia, cardiac arrhythmia and history of peptic ulcer.
Patients are advised not to take foods rich in caffeine.
It should not be used in the history of peptic ulcers.
It should not be used in case of hepatic or renal insufficiency.
Not recommended in case of hypersensitivity of doxophylline.
