Description

This medication is used for diabetes treatment. It contains Dapagliflozin which removes excess sugar from the body through the urine, and Metformin which helps the body respond better to the insulin it makes naturally. These help lower the amount of sugar made by the liver and the sugar moved from the gut into the blood.

Uses

Dapagliflozin is utilized for the following therapeutic indications:

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Reduction of the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes
  • Treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)
  • Treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes

    Dosage

    Follow these dosage instructions:

    • Take as per doctor’s Prescription.
    • Take one tablet per day as prescribed by the doctor, through mouth with a glass of water.
    • Take the tablet at a scheduled day regularly to get the most benefit.
    • Your doctor will determine the treatment length based on your symptom severity.

      In case of Overdose

      If you think you have used too much of this medicine, talk to your doctor. Seek medical emergency help immediately. Overdose symptoms may include:

      Missed Dose

      If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don’t remember missing the dose, don’t double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

      How To Use

      Take the tablet whole with a glass of water. It is recommended to take the medicine same time every day.

      When Not to Use

      Do not take this medicine if you:

      • Have unstable and/or insulin-dependent (Type I) diabetes mellitus.
      • Have increased ketones in the blood or urine (metabolic acidosis) or have had ketoacidosis with or without coma
      • Are allergic (hypersensitive) to dapagliflozin, metformin hydrochloride, or any of the ingredients in the medicine.

        This medication may pose the following side effects:

        • Difficulty breathing
        • Nausea
        • Vomiting
        • Stomach pain
        • Loss of appetite
        • Confusion
        • Excessive thirst
        • Feeling unusual tiredness
        • A sweet smell to the breath, a sweet or metallic taste in the mouth or a different odour to urine or sweat
        • Dizziness, fainting, and lightheadedness
        • Shaking, sweating, rapid heartbeat
        • Change in vision, hunger, headache
        • Unusual muscle pain
        • Trouble breathing
        • Unusual or unexpected stomach discomfort

          Precautions & Warnings

          You should practice these cautions before taking the medicine:

          • Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or lactating, and there’s no safer alternative available.
          • Talk to your doctor if you have a hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components in the medicine.
          • Talk to your doctor if you have a liver or kidney disease before using the medicine.
          • Avoid alocohol, diuretics, NSAIDs, and Digoxin while using this medication.
          • This medicine can cause your urine to test positive for sugar.
          • This medicine may cause a change in the amount of cholesterol or fats in your blood.

            • Nifedipine
            • Cationic drugs (e.g. amiloride, digoxin, morphine, procainamide, quinidine, quinine, ranitidine, triamterene, trimethoprim, and vancomycin)
            • Blood thinners
            • Corticosteroids
            • Phenothiazines
            • Thyroid products
            • Estrogens or estrogens plus progestogen
            • Phenytoin
            • Nicotinic Acid
            • Sympathomimetics
            • Calcium channel-blocking drugs
            • Isoniazid
            • Beta-2-agonist
            • ACE inhibitor drugs
