Ferrous sulphate 200 mg tablets are oral iron supplements used to treat and prevent iron-deficiency anemia by restoring hemoglobin and iron levels in the blood. A standard 200 mg tablet contains about 65 mg of elemental iron.
Uses and Dosage:
- Treatment: Usually one tablet taken 2 to 3 times a day, or as directed by a doctor.
- Prevention: Usually one tablet taken once a day.
- How to take: Swallow whole with water. For best absorption, take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals), but it can be taken with food if it upsets your stomach.
- Interactions: Avoid taking with tea, coffee, milk, eggs, or antacids, as they reduce iron absorption.
Common Side Effects:
- Dark or black stools (a harmless normal effect)
